Healing Warriors provides a great alternative to traditional care with a friendly and professional staff. I'm currently receiving acupuncture from their program and have had noticeable results after the first treatment. I would recommend this program to any veteran looking for a hassle free and convenient way to receive care.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff for providing this great service that supports veterans and their families. My experience with Healing Warriors was exceptional.

This is my story in short. After more than a year of trying to recover from back surgery that occurred in September 2012, I hobbled into the Healing Warriors office, pain level 12, in January 2014. I walked out in June 2014 pain level 5, so much better condition due to the professionalism of all the therapists. Yes, it took 6 months to get my back muscles to release and for me to learn methods to relax. Although I am not completely recovered, I use the self-help methods I learned at the Healing Warriors office. It changed my world. I cannot express enough how Healing Warriors staff treated me with respect and compassion during each session. They gave me hope for a better life.Thank you. Anna Clark

I would like to share with you the positive impact of the therapies I have experienced at Healing Warriors.

I came to Healing Warriors with very high anxiety and my stress level was through the roof. I was also in physical pain.
I have received regular Healing Touch and Cranio-Sacral treatments over the past few months. The positive impact in my life has surpassed my expectations. The immediate thing I noticed was feeling calmer. My anxiety level began to decrease fairly early on. As the weeks pass, I continue to notice I am handling day-to-day stressors better, my insomnia is drastically improved (sleeping better than I have in many years), and I generally feel more positive and energetic. My pain is even decreased, which I didn't expect.

Honestly, just in the few months since I started, I have seen exponentially more positive results than in 20 years of talk therapy and medication. If only I had known about these therapies back then....and I'm so grateful to have this opportunity to experience them now. I truly appreciate the therapists at Healing Warriors for caring about veterans enough to commit their time and talents in this way. They really do "Support Our Troops!"
Thank you, thank you, to all of you!Sincerely,
Erin French

Mission

Healing Warriors Program envisions a suicide-free world where all veterans and their families thrive. Our mission is to improve wellness of veterans and their families through non-narcotic care. Healing Warriors Program provides Integrative Care therapy for Pain, TBI, sleep disturbance, Post Traumatic Stress and other challenges to Service members and their families. On October 5th, we were honored as one of 5 national veteran nonprofits to receive a 2018 Newman's Own Award for innovation in Veterans Programs. The award was presented at the Pentagon Hall of Heroes by General Joseph Dunford, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. https://globenewswire.com/news-release/2018/10/05/1617555/0/en/Newman-s-Own-Awards-Donates-200-000-to-Five-Military-Non-Profits-at-Pentagon-Award-Ceremony.html While the national suicide rate is 17.5, the overall population suicide rate for Colorado is 26.1 and for Colorado veterans 42.9 making Colorado one of the highest states in the nation for Veteran suicide loss of life. We know that contributing factors to veteran suicides are mental health issues, narcotic use/addiction, unresolved chronic pain from physical trauma, Post Traumatic Stress, Interpersonal trauma and more. The size of the problem has overwhelmed many of the existing channels for care on a national level and communities are turning to the nonprofit sector to provide for the gaps in care. Healing Warriors Program, a 501c3 nonprofit headquartered in Fort Collins, Colorado, exists to provide non-narcotic options to opioids and interrupt the factors that contribute to veteran suicide.

Background Statement

Co-founders Ana Yelen and Rochelle Poland met when Ana was still a senior manager at high-tech giant, Sun Microsystems and Rochelle was a product manager at another tech giant, Arrow Electronics. Since both were certified as Healing Touch practitioners, they recognized a need for non-narcotic care options for returning service members. The first annual Service day event was organized in 2007 as a privately-sponsored service event. The Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space museum generously hosted the free clinic event which included 14 practitioners donating their time and skill to veteran and active duty service members and their families between 2007-2010. In 2010, Rochelle and Ana's volunteer relationship with Lifespark Cancer Resources resulted in an opportunity to provide a Service Day of free clinic services at the Denver VA Medical center for Nurse's day. The practitioner team provided free sessions from 8 am to 7 pm and with a high demand for services, the event was deemed a success.

Denver VA requested the team back over several years afterwards. As headlines blazed with rising suicide rates among our service members, a national Opioid crisis, and veteran care delays, the need for care options was clear. Seeing the crisis, Shelley and Ana were joined by Jane Trexler, whose parents were both United States Marines, to determine how best to serve our Veteran community. In the fall of 2012, they established a 501c3 nonprofit clinic, Healing Warriors Program. In January 2013, a planning team was assembled to create the operating model and standards. In late June 2013, one of the planning team members, Jackie Cooper, offered free clinic space in her clinic, providing the fledgling Healing Warriors Program organization with a space to operate a pilot clinic. This clinic opened its doors in July 2013. Within 4 months, it was clear that more space was needed and Healing Warriors Program clinic moved to 2-room treatment clinic with a private reception area and business office.

With no funding to spread the word, and relying on volunteer staff, it was unclear whether the clinic would be able to survive. But our veterans, having experienced results, stepped in and spread the word for us. It wasn't long before the demand for services, generated from word of mouth referrals, grew, making it necessary for the clinic to move once again in 2014, this time to a 4-room treatment clinic open 5 days a week. In March of 2019, having outgrown our space again, we moved to our current headquarters clinic at 1044 West Drake Road. This clinic space has increased our capacity by adding another treatment room and a business office. From our opening in July of 2013 through mid 2022 the Healing Warriors Program clinic team has delivered over 27,000 sessions.
