Description

Denver Regional Youth Film Festival celebrates Mary Elitch's core mission: to introduce the cultural arts to our youth, open their minds, stimulate their curiosity, and deepen their compassion and understanding. DRYFF will give them exposure to high-quality films, compelling stories, and diverse perspectives from around the world and their own backyard. This year's features will transport the audience into animated worlds to real worlds with beauty, thrilling thought-provoking adventures, friendships and fearless triumphs and tragedies.

Submissions are open to all Colorado Filmmakers who have a film suitable for youth up to 20 years old.

Come join us for the 3rd Annual Denver Regional Youth Film Festival. This event will become a family favorite that you won't want to miss. All children must be accompanied by an adult. 18 and under are FREE.

Evidence of Program's Success

Festival welcomes all young people, parents, and movie-lovers to explore the world without leaving Denver . Presenting the best new animation, live action, documentary, and experimental film from across the globe, we invite you to watch, laugh, create, and explore with us.
50 new films from around the world, representing countries and languages across the world
Programs for ages 3-18
2 feature films
10 unique short film programs (our most popular!)
Premieres, parties, and red carpet events

Interactive Q&As with visiting filmmakers
Hands-on filmmaking workshops
Audience voting to determine the Festival Award winners
Film-Ed field trip program for public school students

The great success of the program is that it allows children to utilize another creative tool to let their story be told. Film is not taught in school but it Is a great format for expression and storytelling.

The film festival encourages diversity, the introduction of other cultures without leaving Denver. We offer free workshops and free admission to anyone under 18 years of age and adults are only 5 dollars. Teachers receive free worksheets, discussion sheets and workshops.

First years attendance was low but as the word got out the second doubled in attendance and we had families flying from across the nation. This will be our third year and we were expecting to double our attendance. With COVID we think that number will quadruple with families watching virtually.

Due to our success the International Youth Silent Film Festival will be partnering with us and our youth filmmakers will be able to participate in their Global Awards.

Evidence of Program's Success

All classes have gone virtual with the exception of some small group play classes. Our photography classes include additional exposure for our students through our virtual gallery in which their pieces can be sold. So far each exhibit has resulted in the sale of art.
