Grand Design Inc., continues to focus on involving youth and their families and engaging them in quality theatrical performances and arts instruction. Many youth who have completed the arts instruction curriculum have increased their cognitive abilities, improved learning abilities while gaining an awareness and appreciation for the arts.
Several students who have participated in our programming have been awarded the Youth of the Year award at the Boys and Girls Club for their outstanding dedication, improved learning and committed to education. "My child was shy and withdrawn before becoming a part of the Sing, Step, Act and Dance classes sponsored by Grand Design at the Boettcher Aurora Boys and Girls Club. The classes she has participated in have helped develop her confidence, spirit and interest in school and opening up. Mission
Grand Design, Inc., is dedicated to preserving and keeping alive primarily the performing arts of African Americans, yet inclusive of other cultural performing arts; to provide entertainment and raise the awareness of the public and an appreciation by the public through performances, concerts, presentations, visual art exhibits and cultural awareness training for the benefit of the residents in Aurora and the metropolitan area.
Background Statement
In 1994 Dr. Barbara Shannon Banister began discussing with friends and colleagues about creating a company that would support the performance of musical works by African Americans while enhancing society's cultural awareness. Grand Design, Inc., was created out of the extensive exchanges. Grand Design, Inc., achieves its purposes by coordinating educational stage productions and performing arts projects. Since its inception, thousands of Colorado residents have enjoyed and gained an appreciation for cultural diversity from the presentations and productions of Grand Design, Inc.
