The Grand Foundation seeks to improve the quality of life in Grand County by proactively addressing current and future needs in the areas of Health & Human Services, Arts & Culture, Education, Amateur Sports and Environment. We facilitate philanthropy by fostering and building donor relationships in order to act as a catalyst for community investment and involvement. Grand Foundation events raise awareness and funds that, combined with our donor advised funds and other planned giving initiatives, enable us to provide grants to nurture and support qualified local nonprofits. As growth continues to challenge the social infrastructure of our community and as a major local vehicle dedicated to raising funds for Grand County nonprofits, we take our responsibility seriously to preserve and enhance our community - the place where we love to Live, Work and Play!
The Grand Foundation seeks to improve the quality of life for residents and guests in Grand County by supporting Health & Human Services, Education, Environment, Amateur Sports, and Arts & Culture. The goal of the Foundation is to facilitate philanthropy, fostering and building donor relationships in order to promote and support community investment and involvement. The Foundation accomplishes this by supporting local non-profit and service organizations. In addition, annual fundraising events are held to increase awareness of the community's needs and to enable us to provide grants to nurture and support qualified local non-profit and service organizations.
Founded in 1996 as the Columbine Community Foundation, the organization's name was changed in 2001 to the Grand Foundation. This was an important year for the Foundation as it announced its county-wide focus in serving all of Grand County, Colorado including all areas from Kremmling to Grand Lake to Winter Park.
The current economy continues to challenge the social infrastructure of all communities. As a major local vehicle dedicated to raising funds for Grand County non-profits, we take our responsibility seriously to preserve and enhance our community. Over its 23-year history, the Foundation has awarded over $10.1 million in grants to the local community. In recent years, we have seen remarkable growth in our grants program and our emergency grant requests. With that, as our inspiration last year, we introduced and trademarked our slogan - Give Where You Live, Work & Play. We feel this embodies what we are all about!
It is our goal, at the Grand Foundation, to understand the economically-challenged times and work with our community to develop new resources and to collaborate on programs and services to make those resources go further. When one donates to the Grand Foundation, that contribution is shared with over 150 non-profit and service organizations. Each dollar given makes a significant impact on our community. The Grand Foundation keeps its administrative cost below 9 percent, keeping the focus on community dollars.
