Testimonials

"It would be hard to overstate how important it is to have a powerful business voice in coalitions working to forward policies that directly impact economic and health equity for women and families. During the successful minimum wage campaign and last year's unsuccessful legislative efforts to pass Famli and a Local Wage Option, the number one opposition message was and is, that these efforts will hurt business and thus hurt families and Colorado. The dominant narrative that wage equity, health care, paid sick leave and paid family leave are bad for all business and thus bad for families, our economy and Colorado is pervasive and often effective.

Good Business Colorado is the essential business voice in the state that is forwarding a narrative that equitable wages, paid family leave, the need for some municipalities to create a higher minimum wage are in fact good for business, good for families, good for the economy and good for Colorado. When we were forming the Colorado Families for a Fair Wage which built a powerful coalition we realized that no one had any substantive business relationships. That has changed with the growing strength of Good Business Colorado. They are a strong and essential partner in all of our efforts to create more human dignity for women, families and lower income Coloradans."

Mission

Good Business Colorado is a membership organization for values-driven businesses working to build a prosperous economy, equitable communities, and a sustainable environment. Our members believe that business success cannot be measured by profit alone and that true success means that our planet, communities, employees, and bottom lines are all thriving.

Background Statement

Good Business Colorado was born out of a major campaign victory in Colorado - the 2016 ballot measure to increase the state minimum wage. As a part of the campaign, over 300 businesses signed in support of raising Colorado's minimum wage. After the 2016 election, many of the business owners who were involved with the campaign felt true ownership over the victory and wanted to keep working together to see how they could continue to use their voices to influence policy. But there was no organized advocacy voice for these businesses.

Accordingly, several of the business owners involved with the minimum wage campaign began meeting regularly to build a new business organization. In October of 2017, GBC formally incorporated, with the mission of becoming the voice of values-driven businesses advocating for a prosperous economy, equitable communities and a sustainable environment.
