Golden Civic Foundation

A nonprofit organization

We're here for good! Since its inception, the Golden Civic Foundation has invested more than $7.3M in the Golden community. We fund small businesses and support public art and grants to Golden's nonprofit organizations and schools.

Testimonials

Those of us who serve on the board of the Golden Civic Foundation do so because we care for Golden and wish to see it remain a strong and vital presence in the lives of our residents. We want to launch Golden's children into the world with the knowledge of what it means to be part of a community, so that they can find it or create it elsewhere. We welcome your gifts of time, talent or treasure as we endeavor "for the good of Golden!"

Mission

The Golden Civic Foundation's mission is to invest in the economic and cultural vitality of the Golden community. For over 50 years we have supported civic development and provided community and civic grants and small business loans with the help of our partnerships, donations, and volunteers. Our charter is clear; To champion the passion and spirit of those who inhabit our neighborhoods, to assist beyond what's expected, and ultimately abide by the "Golden Rule."

Background Statement

In late 1960s several business leaders saw that Golden had many needs for which tax revenues were not available. They founded the Golden Civic Foundation. The Foundation was incorporated in 1970 under the Colorado Non-Profit Act to raise funds for the betterment of Golden.

Since then, the Foundation has been an instrumental partner in nearly every major building project in downtown Golden, most notably, the American Mountaineering Center, Table Mountain Inn, the Golden Hotel, Gateway Station, Clear Creek Commons, the Foothills Art Center's new Astor House project, and the new Miners Alley Performing Arts Center.

The Foundation has also been a strong supporter of Golden families in need, first by conducting the capital campaign to build the CAG Food Pantry and Thrift Store, and then providing continuing support through the Barbara Foss Fund.

Golden's schools and nonprofit organizations eagerly anticipate the award of over $200,000 annually in community grants, which are the result of the annual Golden Civic Foundation Wild West Oktoberfest and the auction event held in the fall.
