We envision a healthy local food system that is thriving, environmentally sustainable, and equitable for ALL Coloradans. We run three program areas that 1) support and train local farmers, 2) make healthy, local food more affordable and accessible, and 3) connect YOU with where your food comes from.
The GoFarm mission is to strengthen our local food system by training and supporting local farmers, connecting people to local agriculture, and increasing affordability and access to locally grown food for all Coloradans.
GoFarm was founded on the vision of building a robust local food system that secures fair prices for farmers while supporting environmentally-sustainable food that is affordable and accessible to the community.
GoFarm adopted a system approach to implement this vision after two years of rigorous research investigating the limitations and challenges of establishing local food systems across the nation and specifically in Colorado.
GoFarm's early success has come by strategically partnering with organizations and connecting to community members on a personal level. GoFarm gained accreditation to receive SNAP benefits for food purchases, and grant funding to focus on increasing access of fresh food to families challenged by food insecurity. GoFarm's Community Food Access program includes a mobile market shopping experience at the Head Start in Arvada, Senior Living Facilities, and other Head Start locations in Lakewood. We also provide fresh produce to local food banks, school organizations, and other partners who are addressing hunger in our community.
The Local Food Share and Community Food Access programs bring fair wages to our smaller, aspiring farmers in Colorado, and provide them with an outlet to the wholesale market. We share their food with the community and bring their stories to life!
In addition, through the GoFarm Incubator program, we provide beginning farmers with the training, mentorship, and technical assistance needed to manage their own farm business. We provide access to land, water, mentorship, training, and so much more, to equip these beginning farmers with everything they need to know!
"Fighting Hunger at Mines is thrilled to be in collaboration with GoFarm. The weekly pickups are easy and help us address food insecurity on the Colorado School of Mines campus. With 3 large veggie shares, 3 egg shares, and 4 fruit shares we are able to ensure that between 20 - 50 students weekly have access to nutritious locally sourced food. Students are excited by the variety and quality which often means it is all gone within an hour of us setting up. GoFarm has also been a great resource for us to collaborate with as we attempt to help address food insecurity in the Golden community. We know this relationship will only continue to grow!"
