Testimonials

Scott Horton: Graduate of all three Solar Workforce Development Programs

"GRID CO has really supported me the whole way through… I’ve got a job I love! And that was all I needed… a chance to get back to society and get the skills for a good job like working in solar and at GRID!”

Desi Martinez: Energy for All client

“Solar is always a good thing, I’m just glad I got it for free. All of the people who came out with GRID CO were awesome. They were kind, always let us know they were here, and were never a bother”

Dshawn Vargas: IBT Graduate
"The IBT program is a wonderful program to help an individual get the proper understanding of the solar industry. It's been a pleasure to go to class, learn and be about to apply what I have learn to the field of work. I recommend this course to anyone looking to better themselves. IBT gives us the opportunity to make self improvement with ourselves as well within choosing a positive career choice. I look forward to the endless possibilities that lay ahead. I'm excited to begin to help change the world with one solar panel at a time."- Dshawn Vargas

Mission

We envision a rapid, equitable transition to a world powered by renewable energy that benefits everyone.

Our mission is to build community-powered solutions to advance economic and environmental justice through renewable energy.

Background Statement

GRID Alternatives (GRID) was founded in 2001 with the vision that the transition to clean, renewable technology should include everyone. Since its founding, GRID's commitment to serving communities that disproportionately bear the burden of environmental injustice and climate change has not wavered. GRID believes that the voices and leadership of communities on the front lines of these issues are key to creating equitable and lasting solutions.

GRID has created a model to make solar PV technology practical and accessible for low-income communities, while providing paid pathways to clean energy jobs. We develop and implement solar projects that reduce energy costs for single family households, affordable housing providers and community organizations, while offering paid hands-on training to help individuals jumpstart their solar careers. Our work brings together community partners, job training groups, local governments, and utility partners to make clean energy a win for everyone.

In 2013, GRID Alternatives Colorado (GRID Colorado) was established as the first independent affiliate office outside of California. To date, GRID Colorado has installed over 577 solar systems across Colorado estimated to provide more than $43M in savings for 2,737 low-income households, while preventing 362,821 tons of GHG emissions. This is equivalent to taking 69,440 cars off the road.
