At Four Mile Historic Park we are committed to preserving Colorado history.  The Four Mile House, Denver’s oldest standing structure, offers a unique window into the state’s wild and wonderful past. From pioneer adventures and blacksmith demonstrations to feeding our horses and goats or enjoying educational field trips, we bring the spirit of Colorado’s Old West to life for all ages.

As a prominent station along the Cherokee Trail, Four Mile was the final "mile stop" before reaching Denver. Originally, six mile houses stood along the trail. Today, sadly only two remain. This makes the preservation of Four Mile Historic Park all the more vital in keeping Colorado’s frontier past alive.

Featured Campaigns

Colorado History Preservation:  If you believe in protecting Colorado’s past for future generations, a donation to Four Mile makes a lasting impact. Our current major project is restoring all three of our porches. Fundraising goal: $14,500.

Learning Lessons from the Old West: we are able to provide free admission and tours to Title One schools. Some of these kiddos never have the chance to go on field trips, because their schools can't afford it. We have the opportunity to open the Park to children and adults with disabilities along with providing discounts to seniors and military. These offerings are made available because of donors like you! Fundraising goal: $3,000.

Four Mile Farm Family: Did you know Four Mile Park is home to 2 horses, 3 goats, 2 pigs, 3 chickens, and a colony of bees? Care and feeding for our farm family costs $25,000. By making a donation, you are keeping our animal residents happy, cozy, and loved. Fundraising goal: $6,000.

Women's History Preservation: Businesswoman, Mary Cawker, purchased the Four Mile House from the Brantner Brothers and opened an inn for the travelers along the Cherokee Trail. In the 1800s it was rare for a single woman to own and operate her own business. As a trading post with hot meals served twitch a day and dances on the second floor, it becomes a hub for local activity. Mrs. Cawker made revolutionary strides in women's rights. Fundraising goal: $3,000.

Mission
