Testimonials

"The mission of Jefferson Academy reflects everything we ever hoped and dreamed for our students and families when we established the school over 25 years ago. I am so deeply proud of the incredible accomplishments of the school and its students as well as the continued devotion of the staff and the Board to our tradition of excellence." - Michael Munier, Founding Principal, 1994-2004

"Jefferson Academy began in uncharted territory when we opened the school in 1994. We were a few families who wanted a richer, deeper educational experience for our children, by creating an environment for them to expand their learning opportunities. The road to building the foundation upon which we now stand was not an easy one. However the building blocks of our foundation brought a community of families and educational staff together with the mutual pride of common efforts. This enabled us to offer a more encompassing school experience for our children. I think that Mark Twain gives clarity to our present time, 'The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.' Perhaps in this time we are now finding out the "Why" JA was founded." - Sonja Netzer, Instructional/Achievement Coach

Mission

Our mission is to financially support the needs, efforts, and mission of Jefferson Academy (JA) K-12 Charter School, ultimately engendering growth in character, academic achievement and the love of learning.

Background Statement

As a public charter school, JA receives the same per pupil spending as a traditional public school, but it does not receive funding for buildings, facilities, grounds, or equipment. Established in 2011, the Foundation for Jefferson Academy exists to support large-scale projects in these areas as well as technology, safety & maintenance upgrades, academics, staff salaries and our Community Cares program.

Utilizing grants, fundraisers and donations from our school community as well as businesses, alumni and non-profit organizations, we serve as a critical resource for campus administration, teachers, classrooms and social programs. Ultimately, our support upholds Jefferson Academy's mission to help students achieve their highest academic and character potential to become responsible, productive citizens.
