Colorado Fourteeners Initiative
Colorado Fourteeners Initiative protects, preserves, enhances and restores the natural integrity of Colorado's 54 peaks over 14,000 feet in elevation--the "Fourteeners"--through active stewardship and public education. CFI accomplishes its mission through volunteer-based trail construction, maintenance and restoration projects and educational programs that actively involve Fourteener enthusiasts in the long-term stewardship of these peaks.
Together Colorado is a non-partisan, multi-racial, multi-faith community organization that unlocks the power of people to transform their communities through community organizing. Comprised of 60+ congregations, schools and youth committees from Pueblo to Fort Collins and a growing state-wide clergy network, we are building an alternative moral and democratic voice in Colorado through a racial and economic lens.
Hike for Hungerby Ruth Warren
Join me as I hike hard, and often, this month for Hunger Free Colorado. Being the Board Chair, you understand my commitment to ending hunger in Colorado. We have done such a great job so far by increasing the number of children who have access to breakfast during the school year. We have also, since I joined the board, helped increase the number of summer lunch sites from 200 to 600 in 2016. And we helped pass legislation that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness by which the counties administer the food stamp program so that people will have greater access to food. Please help me with my $2000 matching grant and give to Hike for Hunger.
Hike for Hungerby Rebecca Schroer
In tens of thousands of homes across the state, our neighbors strive for a brighter future but struggle to make ends meet, whether due to a minimum-wage job, health issue, job loss or other life storm. Parents go without to feed their children. Too many kids start the school day hungry, unable to focus on learning. And, after a lifetime of working, Colorado seniors are left to fend for themselves and face the question: Do I buy needed medication or food?
Though hunger is a serious-and often invisible-problem in Colorado, it is solvable. Hunger Free Colorado is a statewide nonprofit organization, launched in 2009, connecting people to food resources and fueling change in systems, policies and social views, so no Coloradan goes hungry.
Hike for Hunger is taking place throughout the month of July to raise money for Hunger Free Colorado. I have committed to five hikes during the month of July. Please sponsor me by donating to Hunger Free Colorado.
