First Steps at Monarch Montessori is committed to growing a strong community in Far Northeast Denver. Your support will provide assistance to children of low-income families to attend Monarch, allowing their parents an opportunity to further their careers and education. Monarch's student population has diverse demographics, with a focus on academics, as well as character development (leadership, self-motivation, interest in discovery, love for learning and responsibility).
Our mission is to provide a challenging academic program, based on the educational philosophy of Dr. Montessori. This method will support our students as they become "engaged learners today" and the "leaders of tomorrow".
First Steps at Monarch Montessori developed in 2010 by a group of dedicated Montessori educators looking to bring a unique design into practice. The vision was to create a stable and nurturing environment in which a child could continue growth, within the Montessori curriculum, from infancy through fifth grade. Phase one of Monarch Montessori's development, was the creation of a non-profit, First Steps at Monarch Montessori, a thriving educational childcare serving children ages 6 weeks through 5 years. Phase two was established in 2012 with the approval from DPS of Monarch Montessori of Denver Charter Elementary School. This model is unique to Colorado and one of only a handful of campuses that offers learning for such an extended age group. The two separate schools work in unison to provide an example of new beginnings in a neighborhood of struggling businesses, school closures and home foreclosures. Monarch is committed to proving equal educational opportunities to all families, foster diversity and student achievement.
