As the only existing Native CDFI intermediary offering financial products and development services, Oweesta understands the crucial need for investment capital in Native CDFIs. We support Native CDFIs that directly provide the tools and capital support required for economic development.
"We are appreciative to be one of the participants of the Financial Coaching Pilot. For 8 years, we have been assisting clients with overcoming systemic and personal barriers related to building credit and managing finances through a technical assistance model. While the TA model is still relevant in many scenarios, the new financial coaching model offers a client led approach which is based upon the premise that clients are whole, creative, and resourceful individuals. It's a refreshing perspective in the financial coaching industry." -- Staff member from Four Bands Community Fund.
First Nations Oweesta Corporation supports economic growth in Native American communities across the nation through the creation, development and capitalization of Community Development Financial Institutions.
First Nations Oweesta Corporation's genesis 19 years ago came from its parent company First Nations Development Institute's 35-year history and the recognition of the way in which the lack of capital and financial infrastructure was holding back economic development in Native communities. Oweesta's priority is to provide investment capital into Native Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and communities they serve.
