Background Statement
In 2003, Firehouse Quilts was organized to serve local fire departments. Today, the organization provides quilts to several fire departments, as well as more than 30 human services agencies, hospitals, and shelters throughout Colorado.
Firehouse Quilts is powered by more than 60 dedicated volunteers who make and donate over 2,000 quilts each year. Since 2003, over 25,000 quilts have been donated to people in need.
Volunteers gather for one Sew Day each month and also work on quilts in their homes throughout the year. Board members and volunteers deliver quilts to agencies throughout Colorado in response to their requests, ensuring that quilts reach children and patients when they need them most.
