Firefighters of Aurora Benevolent Fund

A nonprofit organization

Firefighters of Aurora Benevolent Fund was created in 2012 after the tragic death of Firefighter Jason Murphy. The fund exists to offer financial assistance to any active Firefighter and their dependents when the Firefighter is seriously injured, disabled or killed.

Mission

The mission of the Firefighters of Aurora Benevolent Fund is to provide multi-faceted support to the members of the Aurora Fire Rescue, their families, and the First Responder community at large.

Background Statement

Firefighters of Aurora Benevolent Fund was created in 2012, with the generous support of the Aurora Police Department Widow and Orphan fund, after the tragic death of Jason Murphy. While traveling to work at Fire Station 10 on his bicycle, Jason was struck by a vehicle and killed. He left behind a wife, and two young daughters. Aurora Firefighters saw the need for a fund to help those firefighters and their families when a firefighter is killed, seriously injured or disabled.
