The Imagination Library is a program of the Dollywood Foundation, founded by Dolly Parton. The Evergreen Rotary Foundation, together with the Rotary Clubs of Conifer, Clear Creek, Mountain Foothills, and Peak-to-Peak, are local sponsors. The program provides age appropriate books each month to children from birth to age five with the goal of encouraging early childhood development and through parents reading to their children. The program serves an area which includes portions of Jefferson, Clear Creek, Park, and Gilpin counties in the foothills area.
There are nearly 1.4 million kids registered internationally in the Imagination Libraery Program with nearly 120 million books mailed since 1995. The success of the program is borne out by the longevity of the program and the numbers of participants, but it is also strongly supported by the numerous letters of thanks received locally from parents citing examples of their children excelling in reading and developing strong interest in their local library.

Mountain Backpacks is a supplemental food program with a mission is to help kids stay full and focused throughout the school year. It provides weekend meals, weekly snacks and holiday food boxes to families enrolled in the program at seven area schools in Jefferson County, two in Clear Creek county, and one in the City of Lakewood. The program supports teachers by providing emergency snacks for their classrooms and operates food pantries to meet the needs of older students. It is a service project of the Evergreen Rotary Foundation and Evergreen Lutheran Church and a proud partner of the Food Bank of the Rockies.
There is ample evidence in the literature to link nutrition with learning. Existing data suggests that with better nutrition students are better able to learn, students have fewer absences, and students' behavior improves, causing fewer disruptions in the classroom. This is supported by the numerous testimonials by parents regarding improved academic performance by their children while participating in the Backpack Program.
