Mission
The Evergreen Music Festival provides a program of musical events, principally on July 4, for the cultural benefit and education of the mountain area communities and the greater Denver area.
Background Statement
The organization was founded 32 years ago by an Evergreen couple who wanted to provide a performance venue for the National Repertory Orchestra ("NRO"). The NRO had been located in Evergreen for 20 years under the name "Colorado Philharmonic" prior to moving to Keystone Resort in 1986.. Evergreen Music Festival ("EMF") continued in that vein for the next 25 years under various volunteer boards. At the end of 2014, the reins of this all-volunteer organization with its small bank balance were handed to new leadership.
Since that time, EMF has focused on bringing down the average age of the audience (the audience had become quite elderly) and making the July 4th event a family-fun festival with multiple stages, professional musicians of many genres, professional dancers, and free children's activities. The organization has grown in size and stability while still honoring the elderly component of its audience as
well as honoring veterans and active military. EMF has grown from $13K in revenues in 2013 to a projected $110K in revenues in 2021 with a projected cash balance of $64K at year-end and no liabilities. Working closely with JeffCo Public Health and Evergreen Park & Recreation District, EMF added a second festival in 2021 on Memorial Day.
