Last year, we rescued and provided care for 696 animals and helped hundreds of other animals outside of our rescue receive shelter, food, training and veterinary assistance. Thanks to the support of our community, 532 animals were adopted into loving homes.
All of this vital work is made possible by a dedicated team of volunteers who generously give their time and talents to create a world in which animals know safety and love. However, your thoughtful donations are the lifeblood of our organization, enabling us to provide the necessary care for animals in need.
• $25 can feed an animal for two weeks.
• $200 covers the cost to spay or neuter a pet.
• $500 aids a dog in need of training as they adjust to their new life.
• $1000 contributes to emergency services for pets in urgent need.
Happy Tails:
Skittles: Skittles the cat's story began with heartbreak, she once lived happily with her owner, but when they moved, she was left behind. Understandably, she was confused and a bit moody at first. With patience and love from her foster mom, Skittles slowly learned that people could be trusted again. She blossomed into a gentle, affectionate girl with a big heart who just needed a place to truly belong.
Skittles new family says she’s doing great: “She loves attention, cuddles, and climbs onto my lap when I’m watching TV. She loves to play and watch the world go by out the window. Sometimes she stares into my eyes like she’s trying to tell me something. She waits so patiently for me to respond, then looks disappointed when I don’t ‘get it’! I wish I knew what she was saying, but I’m so happy to have her.” From being left behind to finding love again, Skittles’ journey is a beautiful reminder of what patience, compassion, and second chances can do.
Pearl: Pearl and her siblings, all young puppies, were found in a ditch in Oklahoma. Fostered there, flown to Colorado on a Pilots N Paws flight, fostered here and now her journey is complete. Many thanks to everyone along the way who made this happen!
"Our family absolutely LOVES Pearl! Although, we added to her name, making Pearl her middle name. We call her Nim and she’s quickly learning her name. She is the SWEETEST puppy. Thank you to her wonderful foster family for giving her so much love and training her so well!! Nim sleeps through the night and came to us completely, potty trained/housebroken. Nim follows me around, when I stop she sits and looks up at me with the cutest face. And, when I whistle she comes running, tail wagging!!!!
We are so incredibly happy to have Nim. And, so grateful to EAPL and the amazing foster families who love and care for the pets and give the their best chance at a happy, healthy life."
Panda and Checkers: These two were born in foster care after Precious, their mother, was rescued from a feral cat colony. Despite her rough start, Precious quickly embraced motherhood with incredible love and devotion — always hugging, grooming, and cuddling her little ones. Her foster mom called it a privilege to watch such tenderness every day.
Now these precious kittens have a new beginning of their own! Now named Tuna and MooMoo, these bonded siblings were adopted together and are already settling in beautifully. Their adopter shared: “They’re settling in very well. The routine they’re on is working really well for us… and I finally got a sleeping buddy!” We’re so happy Tuna and MooMoo are safe, loved, and still side by side, just like they were with their amazing mama. Here’s to a lifetime of cozy naps, loving snuggles, and playful moments.
Addie and her 5 puppies: Addie and her five 1 week old puppies were stuck in a shelter in Kansas. They needed out ASAP. A wonderful foster for EAPL agreed to take all of them. Addie as a wonderful momma and all her puppies THRIVED in foster care. The original foster decided to adopt Addie and THREE of her pups. The other two were adopted by family! Fostering and adopting saves lives and we are SO thankful for all our amazing volunteers.
Community Support: EAPL offers assistance to our community to help pets stay in their homes with pet food as needs arise. We provided food to more than 175 pets a year.
Vet Care Assistance: EAPL utilizes an emergency vet care assistance fund for people facing emergency vet bills over $1000, and we assist with a percentage of their minimum estimate. We help an estimated over 200 families per year. Here is one recent thank you note from a community member we were able to help: "Thank you for contributing to our dog, Fish's, parvo treatment. Your support came at such a difficult time and your generosity in helping minimize the financial burden was such a relief. We are happy to share that Fish is now fully recovered and getting back to his goofy, loving self."
