The mission of the Estes Valley Public Library Friends and Foundation encourages, solicits, receives, holds and manages gifts, bequests, and reserves on behalf of the Estes Valley Public Library District, so that these assets and their earnings may provide ongoing support for facilities, staff, programs and services to help achieve the District's mission "To bring people, ideas, and opportunities together for the enrichment of our community by providing access to quality information, resources, and services."
The Foundation was established in 1985 to provide support for the Library by supplementing revenues received from taxes and public appropriations. An endowment fund was established at that time and a federal and state tax exempt 501c3 corporation registered in the State of Colorado. The Foundation worked to establish an endowment, such that the earnings from the investments could be granted to the Library for a variety of capital improvements. The Board of Directors of the Foundation has the responsibility to establish By-Laws, policies and procedures to allow clear, ethical management of activities and funds of the organization.
The merger of the Library Friends and Library Foundation in 2015 provides a united effort in providing support for the Library.
