The Estes Park Veterans Monument Committee is raising funds to build a monument to honor all who have served and serve in uniform. It will be a place of tribute and remembrance, dedicated to those who put on a uniform in the name of America. It will be there for them, for their mothers and fathers, wives and husbands, siblings and children and every passerby to reflect on what service in the name of freedom means. The fundraising began in late 2016 and the hope of the committee is to have the monument built for dedication on Veterans Day 2017. This is not only a significant day for veterans in Estes Park, but for Estes Park itself as it celebrates its centennial that year. The cost is estimated to be $100,000. The sketch below shows the concept as a place to honor all branches of the military. Estes has over 4 million visitors pass through the village each year, and this monument is being built to remind everyone who sees it of what sacrifice means in protecting America's values and way of life. Join us in building a monument as hundreds of cities across the nation have done. Estes sits within the purple mountain majesty, a fitting backdrop to this monument to our fighting men and women. Please join in building this place of honor.
