Testimonials

"The Learning Place has been an invaluable addition to our child's education. Without the high quality, one-on-one tutoring, our daughter, age 9, would not be doing as well as she is in her class. Thanks to the Learning Place, she has caught up to grade level in reading and writing. The tutors and administrators at the learning place are professional and caring, and we can't praise them highly enough for making such a positive difference in our daughter's academic career. The Learning Place is an invaluable asset to the Estes Park community. It's a safe, comfortable place for families to get help for their struggling students. The staff is well educated, and eager to invest in each child, taking time and care to meet each student where they are, at their pace. Every person who works there truly cares about the children, their personal struggles, and in making an investment in their success. Luckily, through scholarships, the Learning Place is available to everyone. Estes Park, and the Estes Park schools would be a much poorer place without this wonderful institution."

"Thanks so much for the updates and for keeping his teacher in the loop as well. I noticed a change too and can see his confidence soar." -parent

"My son has so much more confidence and he truly believes in himself. He has really come to see that teachers, and adults besides his parents, really do care." - parent

"I am in 10th grade now and trying to understand geometry. There was no question for me of coming back this fall for help. Yea, definitely! Right now we are working on constructing bisectors and plane figures. I have geometry homework everyâ€Ĥsingleâ€Ĥnight. I like Tuesday because I know I'll get it done at EPLP" - student

"I have been coming to the The Learning Place a couple of years and my grades have improved with reading, writing, spelling and learning new vowel teams. I feel good, I feel happy and I feel smart!" - student

"My grades have improved since coming here. History is easier than it was before because I understand what I read and write in history better. I feel better about myself and my learning. I am definitely more confident all around." - student

"My tutor gave me the confidence to not only tackle calculus, but to keep my focus sharp as the year came to a close. Her dedication and her confidence in me has given me the tools to chase my dreams and achieve a very large one, that being the Daniels Scholarship," a full-ride to Colorado State University. -student

Mission

Believing that education unlocks dreams, we support students of all ages--inspiring a lifelong love of learning.

Background Statement

Recognizing that some students in our community were falling behind academically, the Estes Park Learning Place was founded in 1998 to provide tutoring services to K-12 students. At that time, it operated as a private fee-for-service organization. In January 2003, the Estes Park Learning Place became a charitable 501(c)3 non-profit serving the greater Estes Valley. Since our inception, our services have broadened. Our tutors have advanced degrees, providing help in a wide range of subject areas. Sometimes our help comes in the form of safety nets--catching students who are at risk of failing a subject or of not graduating. Sometimes our help is dream-based--helping students raise math scores so they can get into the college of their choice, or helping adults pass the GED test in order to further their employment opportunities. We turn no one away and pride ourselves in offering scholarships for those students who need financial assistance.
