Evidence of Program's Success

The SERVES program has been operating at the Denver Tennis Park for the past two years and has served more than 75 youth. This year, the Denver Tennis Park reduced the participation fee from $28 per class to $5 per class to make it more affordable and to increase the number of youth participating and benefiting. Feedback has been positive and there are many cases of improved focus, academic proficiency, and tennis abilities.

Scholarship Program

Class

Youth Development

Beneficiaries

Adolescents/Youth (13-19 years)
Children (4-12 years)
Poor, Economically Disadvantaged, Indigent

Description

The Denver Tennis Park strengthened its scholarship program to make tennis available at partial to no cost to families that financially qualify. We are currently serving 18 youth through annual scholarships ranging from $500 to $9,000 per youth. This year we have budgeted $75,000 in scholarships but will provide more if funding is raised. Tennis is a life-long sport that evidence shows improves mental health, physical health, academic proficiency, resilience, self confidence, and social networking. Unfortunately, too many youth of color and youth in families with limited incomes don't have access to this extraordinary sport. Through programming and scholarships, the Denver Tennis Park is committed to changing that narrative and reality.
