DLS is a DPS charter school, and the #1 school of choice for new kindergarten students in the choice enrollment system. K-8 students are taught core academic classes in either Mandarin or Spanish.
Proficiency in a second language increases skills in abstract reasoning, listening and problem-solving, allowing them to excel at other subjects as well.
The mission of the DLS PTA is to enhance the educational experience of students by funding equipment, learning and teaching tools, and events.
The Vision of DLS is:
1) To become a model of students acquiring superior second language skills as the basis for high overall academic achievement.
2) To develop the knowledge and skills in students necessary to be productive and valued citizens in a culturally diverse, global economy.

The DLS PTA was formed in 2010, and became of member of Colorado PTA in 2012. The PTA consists of parents, teachers, and school staff who work together to raise funds to use for enhancing educational opportunities for DLS students. The general PTA membership exceeds 100 dues-paying members each year. The PTA Executive Board consists of 12-15 members who plan and organize events and lead volunteers.
