Testimonials

"I first became excited about the Denver Language School because of the success its students have in target language acquisition. Then I leaned about the cognitive and academic benefits of learning two languages simultaneously, such as critical thinking, time management, problem-solving and creativity. I realized then that DLS would be impactful for not only the students - but long-term for Denver and the communities in which our students will live as adults." Erin, DLS Parent

Mission

Academic excellence and intercultural competency through language immersion education.

Background Statement

Denver Language School (DLS) was the brainchild of two local residents who responded to the popular demand for a full-language immersion public school in Denver. Six months into designing an immersion school, the Stapleton Foundation joined the effort and provided an incubator for the school to launch. After two and half years of significant work and collaboration, DPS approved DLS's charter proposal. The school opened in 2010 as a K-2 and has added a grade every year - reaching full enrollment as a K-8 in the 2016-2017 school year. There are close to 900 students enrolled in DLS and it continues to grow every year. Denver Language School participates in the school of choice process run through Denver Public Schools.
