Evidence of Program's Success

"In my first job after finishing graduate school I was far better prepared than any of my peers who started around the same time. I had a lot more practical experience than coworkers, and a stronger foundation to build on. We worked with very difficult clients, and it was part of my job to go in and work with families that had fired other therapists. My DFI training gave me the confidence and skills to go in and help these families." - DFI Alumnus

"We have made more progress with you in the last two months than we have in the last 11 years of doing therapy." - DFI Client

"I've been to therapists before. All they did was give me medication that made me sleep all the time. And then I come here - and we talk, and you listen, and you bring things out of me that I never knew existed." - DFI Client

"I was booking a workshop for DFI, and the banquet person was an older woman who was very helpful and kind. As we were finishing and I was getting ready to leave, she said, "I want to tell you something. My granddaughter moved here to live with me and became very depressed. She did not want medications, and all the mental health centers insisted she see a psychiatrist and follow their recommendations. She did not want to start turning to medication; she'd never been depressed before. But she had it in a bad way, and I was scared sometimes she talked about life not being worth living. So I called and called to find help when a friend told me about Denver Family Institute. I was relieved that it would be affordable to my daughter, she did not want charity and could pay $15 per session. As a student, it was a stretch, but doable for her. They assigned her a therapist and after her first appointment, she said they wanted to know if I would come for a session. I was happy to do so, and joined her for several sessions. The therapist taught me that she was situationally down, because of moving to a new town, the stress of college. My granddaughter and I opened up a lot and I learned how to be there for her in a new way. But most importantly, she kept going and her depression lifted, and she got better. DFI saved her life...between you and me, that's why I cut all those deals with you on the pricing..." - DFI Supervisor

"We've noticed a big improvement in how we communicate and deal with problems since we started working with you and coming to DFI." - DFI Client
