Testimonials

"The value of having a Boulé mentor is immeasurable because they have so much wisdom from their years working in corporations, being an African American male in America and having gone through the college process. It gives you a lot of comfort and perspective that will help you to succeed. I'm grateful for these opportunities grow."
~ Current Delta Eta Boule Scholar.

"Because of the Delta Eta Boulé Foundation, I was able to work as an intern in the Colorado Attorney General's office. Truthfully, this has been one of the most unique professional experiences I've ever had. I was tasked with conducting in-depth research into corporate income tax law and I've also written a comprehensive white paper discussing the effects of negative option marketing on Colorado's consumers that was passed along to the attorney general himself. I want to pursue a Ph.D. in political science, and this position has been incredibly helpful in making that decision. The professional relationships that I've developed are going to remain important as I advance in my career. Without the support of the DEBF's sponsors, this opportunity wouldn't have been possible."
~ Delta Eta Boulé Scholar

"I wanted to be involved with the Delta Eta Boulé Scholar Alumni Association because I saw an opportunity to fill a need to connect current and past Scholars, as well as an opportunity to build a platform to further develop leaders via civic engagement and professional development. It offers to me the opportunity to demonstrate the importance to giving back. It's one thing to open doors or to kick them down. And it's another thing completely to turn around and help someone else through that same door. To me, that's why the alumni association is so critical, and that's why I am so proud to serve as President."
~ Alexander Dedrick, past DEBF Scholar, 2015 graduate of Williams College, current Corporate Strategy & Development Associate at BlackRock, and first President of the Delta Eta Boulé Scholar Alumni Association.

"The Foundation's scholarship program addresses concerns of financing college, coping with college life, succeeding academically and professionally. We strongly believe that we can make a positive difference in the lives of students as well as advance further educational opportunities for young black men"
~ Judge Gary Jackson, Delta Eta Boule Foundation Board Member

Giving Activity

Mission

The Delta Eta Boulé Foundation helps young Black men successfully transition from high school, to college, to professional careers and civic and community leadership. Our mission is to identify, nurture and develop the next generation of Black leaders.

To develop the next generation of Black leaders, we help young Black men:

• Break through the systemic barriers we faced in advancing to leadership positions in our careers and community.

• Successfully transition from high school, to college, to high growth professional careers and civic and community leadership.

• Acquire the education, training, skills, insights and networks they need to excel and progress to the highest levels in their professional careers.

• Attain the financial literacy and acumen to build wealth, achieve economic security and close the racial wealth gap.

• Gain leadership skills and experience that will help them to realize their own ambitions and to assist others in achieving theirs.

• Develop a heightened sense of responsibility to utilize their abilities and resources to fight racial injustice and support and advance the African American community.

• Attain levels of wealth, power and influence where they can help eliminate systemic barriers and racial inequities in government, business and civic and social life.

Background Statement

The Delta Eta Boulé Foundation was started in 1998 by the Delta Eta Boulé fraternity ("the Boulé"), the Denver chapter of Sigma Pi Phi, America's oldest black Greek-lettered organization for successful Black male professionals. What started as a small scholarship program is now a comprehensive personal, professional and leadership development program designed to meet the unique needs of young Black men. Through scholarships and culturally relevant wrap-around services, our Scholars develop the skills and social capital they need to succeed in college, careers and community leadership. Boulé Members contribute to the Foundation financially, volunteer their time to run the programs, and support the young men involved, but it operates independently from the fraternity as its own 501(c)3 organization.

The Foundation is focused on getting more Black young men into high-growth professional careers where they can advance to leadership positions and work to break down systemic barriers, help close the racial wealth gap and pave the way for the next generation of Black leaders. From our founding through the 2020- 2021 academic year, we have awarded $783,250 in scholarships to more than 100 Black Denver area high school graduates attending colleges and universities throughout the country and have a 92% graduation rate.
