To provide individuals of all ages and abilities the opportunity to learn, enjoy and improve in the sports of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
Crested Butte Nordic was founded in 1987 to provide groomed cross-country ski and snowshoe trails to the town of Crested Butte and the surrounding Gunnison Valley. Since then, the trail network has grown to 50 kilometers, for skate skiing, classic skiing, and snowshoeing. We have grown from one part-time, seasonal employee to six year-round staff and fifty seasonal staff. This team works together to host a wide range of community programs and events, in addition to maintaining the winter trail network.
"The essence of community is tough to foster in the winter months as everyone huddles inside to stay warm. You don't have music in the park or backyard bbq to bring people together like you do in the summer. For our family, CB Nordic has become a connection point during the winter months to socialize with other families and friends and enjoy winter in the surrounding mountains together."
