Court Support Jeffco

A nonprofit organization

Problem solving courts are an evidence-based judicial response to substance use and mental health disorders in the criminal and child protection court systems. Donations will be used to provide a wide range of small incentives for participants in Jefferson County's problem solving courts including gift cards, small prizes or gifts, and cakes for graduations. Donations are also used for basic needs in some situations to assist with hygiene products, clothes, emergency housing assistance, and more.

Testimonials

"Vet court is full of resources, if you need relationship help, assistance with living, if you need housing, treatment for addiction, whatever it is there's a resource out there for you. If you go to one and it's not working out, there's another one that will."

"I think all courts should be run incentives based… It's not like normal court, you go in there going to clap and cheer for you, you're going to get gift cards, they take care of you. You do good they will reward you."

"Recovery Court is different, it seemed like they actually cared, they do care. They wanted to find the solution of what was going to help me, and I knew it wasn't jail that I needed necessarily, it wasn't probation. I needed help, I needed treatment."

"I am just so thankful for the courts and I never thought I would say that, but it's what I needed, it saved my life. I tell people all the time that intensive residential treatment, the 90 days of treatment, saved my life."

Mission

Court Support Jeffco is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization that supports Problem Solving Courts in the 1st Judicial District.

These Problem Solving Courts were all started with the goals of improving outcomes, lowering taxpayer costs, and stopping the revolving door of the court system for participants and their families.

Court Support Jeffco supports recovery, community safety, and stable families. Substance use and dependency as well as mental health impact us all, either personally or through family and friends. These programs offer participants the opportunity to change their lives and their families.

Background Statement

Court Support Jeffco started in 2010 as "Rewired," to provide incentives and other needed services for clients in Recovery Court, a felony-level drug treatment court. The program floundered for a few years trying to identify its mission and struggling to raise money. In 2013 Rewired became Court Support Jeffco, with a clear mission around raising money for treatment courts. Today, we support five courts in Jefferson County: Recovery Court (felony-level drug treatment); Family Intensive Treatment (FIT) Court (civil child protection); Veteran's Treatment Court (felony level); Adult Mental Health Court (felony level); and Child-Support Court (civil). We also support an alumni group of the courts that organizes sober activities for people living in recovery.
