Testimonials

"Golf saved my life. It took me from wanting to take all my trazodone and never waking up to finding meaning in the sport and something to live for." ~ Cory Myers, U.S. Military Veteran

"The PGA portion of FLAME was the most memorable experience I had during that week. I had never picked up a golf club before and never really thought it would be a sport I would enjoy since I am a woman of color and didn't grow up seeing much representation. I think being able to physically get out there and learn the basics of golf is what made it so great. I'd really like to thank you all for the experience!" ~ Ashanti Ellis -- FLAME 2016

Mission

We are dedicated to positively impacting the lives of military service members, youth and diverse populations through the game of golf.

Background Statement

Founded in 1996 as a way for the members of the Colorado PGA to give back to the game of golf, Colorado PGA REACH is the charitable arm of the Colorado Section of the Professional Golfers Association of America. The Foundation today supports and fosters the growth of Youth Development, Supporting Our Military and Diversity and Inclusion programs.

Colorado PGA REACH Foundation has three pillars we believe in:

Youth Development

The Youth Pillar of PGA REACH seeks to improve and advance opportunities for youth. Introduction to the sport at an early age has proven to provide great opportunities in education, health, and wellness, as well as character-building centered on the game of golf.

We host Golf in Schools, PGA Junior League, Drive, Chip & Putt through the Colorado PGA REACH Foundation.

Supporting Our Military

The Supporting Our Military Pillar of PGA REACH provides golf as a therapeutic rehabilitation tool for all military Veterans, active duty, retired, and family support members. The lifetime sport of golf has proven to be an excellent outlet for activity and competition but also allows military members to assimilate back into their community through the social interaction the game provides. PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) is the flagship military program of PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America. PGA HOPE introduces golf to Veterans with disabilities to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being.

The program introduces the game of golf through a developmental 6-8 week curriculum taught by PGA Professionals trained in adaptive golf and military cultural competency. PGA HOPE includes an introduction to the sport of golf, golf instruction, playing opportunities and social events. All programs are funded by PGA REACH and supplemented by PGA Section Foundations, so the cost of programming is free to all Veterans.

Diversity and Inclusion

Diversity and Inclusion are core values and a focus of Colorado PGA REACH, and we embrace the spirit of differences. We work each and every day with the PGA of America and our Colorado PGA Membership to have this commitment resonate throughout our organization, the activities, programs, and business we conduct, and any practice we implement. One of the key programs we support under Diversity and Inclusion is Scholarships and Grants.
