Disabled people are too often shut out of the services, spaces, and systems everyone else takes for granted. Disability Law United is fighting to change that.

We’re a nonprofit legal organization working for liberation and equity through the lens of intersectional disability justice. Guided by grassroots movements and led by the goals of disabled people themselves, we take on the barriers that block access to essential programs and resist legal systems that cause harm.

Our attorneys bring deep expertise in the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act to institutions that have long ignored or resisted these laws, and that too often deny disabled people their humanity, dignity, and agency. We win change through systemic-change litigation, direct legal services, public education, coalition and policy work, and technical assistance to movement leaders and community partners.

We stand with disabled people facing discrimination where multiple systems of harm collide, because that is where the need is greatest and where change reaches furthest. Our work spans Access to Public Services & Spaces, Disaster & Environmental Justice, Immigration, and Incarceration & Policing.
