Aging, Elderly, Senior Citizens
From the time that Castle Country Assisted Living was founded in 1989, an ongoing part of our business is to have approximately 25% of our residents be Medicaid recipients. Generally these are long time residents who moved to our communities and have stayed there for several years until their financial resources are exhausted. At that point they apply for Medicaid benefits and we accept those payments as payment in full for continuing to provide the care and services that they need. Our financial reality is that if all of our residents were Medicaid recipients we could not afford to remain in business, so the 25% goal is ongoing.
We know that our Medicaid acceptance program is successful because we have not been below our 25% goal in the last 10 years.
