$20,000 Goal

A portion of our commitment to our communities is to accept residents who receive Medicaid benefits. Many "for profit" assisted living facilities do not accept Medicaid residents because the income per resident is considerably lower.   Contributions through Colorado Gives would help us continue to provide this service.

Testimonials

Letter received from family member of a couple who reside in one of our homes.

In 2013 our aunt and uncle notified us that they wanted to leave Beaverton, Oregon, where they had lived for 35 years and come live with us in Castle Rock. They had no children, and no living immediate family. At 86 and 91 they felt an urgency to be near family and have assistance with their daily activities. Thus, we helped them move to Castle Rock and find housing at Valley House.

Throughout their stay at Valley House, they have experienced a level of care and affection rarely found in Assisted Living. The relatively small number of residents, the nursing philosophy, and the compassionate staff helped them transition to a new life. During their stay they have experienced a number of health problems. The help and support we received from CCAL has sustained us through that time.  Although one of them passed away, the other is still living and being cared for at Valley House.

We are so grateful to the staff for providing us with sympathy, long chats, and belly laughs as we try to care for our family members in loving ways. This staff is filled with compassionate, caring and professional individuals. Whether skilled or unskilled, they have answered a higher calling to care for the Elderly.

Background Statement

In 1989 three local nurses in Castle Rock began Castle County Assisted Living, Inc. (CCAL), wanting to provide an alternative to nursing home care for seniors who could benefit from assistance. They envisioned offering small, family-like community living where seniors can participate in a variety of activities and forge friendships with other seniors while receiving 24-hour monitoring and meals. Because of their efforts and planning, CCAL built and operates three assisted living homes in Douglas County.

Cantril House-Opened in 1991, the Cantril House is located one block east of downtown Castle Rock. This historic home of the Cantril Family has been renovated to now provide 13 rooms for up to 16 residents.

Valley House-Opened in 1996, the Valley House sits adjacent to Memmen Ridge in Castle Rock, providing more of a "country" setting. Valley House has 20 rooms for up to 22 residents.

Victorian House-Opened in 1999, Victorian House is situated in downtown Parker and provides 21 rooms for up to 24 residents.
