Description

The Math Enrichment Program (MEP) offers support to students that are struggling with math through individual tutoring and skills development to ensure that students get the assistance that they need with their homework and extra attention to the topics with which extra help is needed. MEP serves 50 to 60 students per year. The math courses offered are basic math, algebra 1 and 2, geometry, trigonometry, calculus 1, 2, and 3, biology, chemistry, and physics. CABPES uses IXL computer software to help students improve their math skills. The MEP program strives to maintain a 1 to 5 Tutor/Student ratio and consistency of tutors.

Evidence of Program's Success

Our Math Enrichment Program allows students to improve their academic performance by filling in the gaps in their math learning. Two of our students are wonderful examples of this. Selena has participated in our math program for the last two years. Since she joined MEP, her CSAP scores have improved from unsatisfactory to proficient. Samuel was able to proudly tell the guests at the recent annual awards banquet about how he went from being able to do 5th grade math to 8th grade math. It is obvious to all that their confidence and pride have increased dramatically with these accomplishments.
