Bright Star Early Learning Center

Background Statement

Bright Star Early Learning Center (BSELC) was founded in 1999 by the members of Denver's Church of the Ascension. These members administered the first seven years of BSELC and though still housed in the historic church, BSELC became an autonomous 501(c)3 organization in 2006. Today, BSELC remains an independent organization, which relies on the Church of the Ascension's in-kind hospitality. Both entities work together to provide high quality childcare 
and early childhood education to Denver families, however BSELC does not advocate for any religion. BSELC serves a diverse population with children ages one to five regardless of income, race, gender, or religion in three classroom settings. BSELC believes that each child is an individual with unique needs and differences and recognizes that needs are met at different paces for each child. To allow for each child to develop to their fullest potential, the center provides an environment that fosters all aspects of development through comprehensive and multi-disciplinary activities. To encourage such growth, BSELC staff provides an environment where children are able to interact with their surroundings and other children. Through play children learn trust, autonomy, and initiative. With highly trained staff and professionals from various disciplines, BSELC is committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment with a variety of programs to stimulate and encourage learning. This includes developing family and community partnerships. These partnerships allow for unique opportunities to increase, expand, and enhance the potential of each child. BSELC is focused on creating an environment where families can connect with one another in order to build friendships and a network of support.
