Testimonials

As part of a crew scheduled to go to Philmont this year, we found ourselves scrambling for a location and a program. Concerned that we would not be able to match the Philmont experience, we cast a wide net to find our adventure. Luckily we ran across SOAR and Drew Bair. Drew and his team's tireless efforts exceeded our hopes. What we found in SOAR was a diamond in the rough. SOAR is uniquely located to provide a wide variety of high adventure. In less than 10 days we managed wilderness backpacking, white water rafting, spelunking and more. We even hiked up 14,433 foot Mount Elbert, Baldy's (Philmont's highest peak) big brother. While I cherish my Philmont experiences, I enjoyed my SOAR experiences every bit as much. The wide variety of possible adventures was wonderful. I highly recommend Troops and crews to consider a SOAR adventure. I am home 5 days and ready to go back.

Our mission is to instill values in young people and prepare them to make ethical choices during their lifetimes, to take leadership roles as adults, and to reach their full potential. Those values are based on character, citizenship, personal fitness, and are found in the Scout Oath and Law.
