The mission of the Colorado Film Society (CFS) is to encourage and celebrate the art of film by creating a dynamic forum for artistic, social and cultural awareness in the community.
Filmmakers Kathy and Robin Beeck founded the Colorado Film Society (CFS) in 2004 and united organizations and volunteers who share the common goals of the CFS. With a 2-person staff and a team of 140 volunteers, the CFS launched the successful Boulder International Film Festival (BIFF) in 2005, implemented a popular year-round educational outreach program and developed a community resource program partnering with many nonprofits. BIFF 2020 involved a team of over 500 volunteers, received hundreds of thousands in in-kind support, and had 22,000 attendances. The CFS is the only organization of its kind serving the community in Boulder County.
The Colorado Film Society offers four programs throughout the year: (1) the Boulder International Film Festival; (2) the CFS Educational and Senior Outreach Programs; (3) the Call 2 Action Program;and (4) the CFS Film Series.
