Mission--- Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
Vision---A world in which everyone has a decent, affordable place to live.
Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical housing ministry founded on Christian principles in 1976 in Americus, Georgia. As with all Habitat affiliates across the country, Blue Spruce Habitat is a grass roots organization founded by community volunteers. Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity was formed in 1990 by 12 individuals associated with Evergreen Christian Outreach and other organizations who saw the need for affordable homes in the area.
Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity serves the mountain areas of Jefferson County, west of Highway C-470 - primarily the Evergreen and Conifer areas along the 285 corridor and part of Park County to Kenosha Pass, as well as all of Clear Creek County. We are an independent affiliate of Habitat run by a local board of directors and we rely on donations and support from our local area to accomplish our mission. Habitat is a community effort and homes are built by local residents who give generously of their time and money. Habitat homes take approximately 2,500 hours of volunteer time to complete. In-kind donations of expertise and materials also contribute greatly to our efforts. We have built 42 homes locally and another 53 homes internationally (through our annual tithe) since our inception. With more than 400 unduplicated volunteers,
Blue Spruce Habitat brings people together to deliver a vital community service.
Our Evergreen based ReStore provides a great community resource for shoppers looking for a wide array of household items, as well as for people interested in donating their tables, chairs, sofas, appliances & more. Additionally, the local ReStore keeps more than 8.5 tons out of landfills each month!
Denine P., homeowner since 2008: "I can't thank Habitat enough for seeing that Kiona, Kayla and myself having a home to live in. We really have had our lives change for the better since moving in. I am able to have a warm safe place to sleep at night and a real kitchen to cook dinner for my family. . It's so nice to be able to live under a roof that was build with loving hands and great skill. I'm sure the people who do the giving would love to know that I think about them every day. I wake up and look at my walls and some times can't believe those walls around me are so wonderful to have been build by such great people. Habitat has been the gift of life for myself and my girls.
Krista and Rob M., homeowners since 2001: "Owning our Habitat home and having such an affordable payment has made it easier to do other things in life. We are involved in the community and spend a lot of time doing home projects which we really enjoy. We were finally able to afford two cars which made it easier to juggle two jobs and the children's activities. I don't know where we would be without Habitat.
