Bike Fort Collins

A nonprofit organization

Bike Fort Collins is a Fort Collins/Northern Colorado-based nonprofit bicycle advocacy and bicycle education organization dedicated to advancing bicycling and other active modes of transportation.

Mission

Bike Fort Collins' mission is to increase participation in active transportation and advance bicycle culture and policy changes, creating safer streets and communities, while also creating an inclusive and empowering culture for all bicyclists, regardless of ability or identity. Most succinctly, we are about MORE BIKES. SAFE STREETS.

We envision a day when Fort Collins is viewed as the Amsterdam of the U.S. when it comes to bicycling--with comparable bicycle infrastructure, participation rates, and an equivalent bicycle culture.

Background Statement

Bike Fort Collins was formed in 2005 to advocate for a paid bicycle coordinator position within the city, as the Fort Collins active bicycling population flourished and support was dwindling. Community members recognized a need for bicycle advocacy, programming, and education. To fill this need, BFC organized to make safe and enjoyable cycling a priority in Fort Collins. In the years that have followed, BFC has been dedicated to identifying and solving problems, promoting ridership, advocating for safer streets and improved infrastructure, educating young riders, and striving to improve Fort Collins's overall bicycle friendly culture.
