The Berthoud Historical Society builds community by discovering, collecting, interpreting, and preserving the history of the town of Berthoud, the Little Thompson Valley area, Colorado, and the surrounding region to enable current and future residents to learn about the area’s original and ongoing development. The Society establishes and maintains museum properties, builds creative exhibits, and holds meetings and activities for the education and enjoyment of its members and visitors.
The Berthoud Historical Society (BHS or the Society) is a long time contributor to the Berthoud community having been founded in 1977 by local leaders with a vision that understood history's integral connection to our future, and the need to discover, interpret and preserve that history for current and future generations. The Society operates two historical museums (Little Thompson Valley Pioneer Museum and the McCarty-Fickel Home Museum) providing preservation and interpretation of historical information and artifacts. The Historical Society’s vision is to be the first source for history, education, research and create experiences for our thriving community.
