(image here) Fresh Food Pantry: Our Fresh Food Pantry provides nutritious, culturally relevant foods to 600 families each month, up from 520 families last year and 360 families the year before that. Access to food helps families stretch their budgets to cover other essentials, including childcare, healthcare, rent and transportation.
(image here) Nourishing Success School Program: Our school snack program helps students stay nourished, focused and ready to learn. During the 2024–2025 school year, BGOLDN supplied 31,500 snacks to schools where up to 70% of students face food insecurity. We are on track to distribute 36,300 snacks during the 2025-2026 school year.
(image here) Grocery Home Delivery: We deliver 48 food boxes each week to seniors and community members facing mobility or transportation barriers—twice as many boxes as we sent out in 2024. Home delivery helps ensure our neighbors can access nourishing food even when getting to the pantry isn't possible.

-Our Fresh Food Pantry is now providing nutritious, culturally relevant foods to 520 families each month—a dramatic rise from 360 families last year, reflecting the growing need in our community. This food support helps families free up income for childcare, healthcare, rent, and transportation.
- Our Nourishing Success School Programs meet students’ immediate nutritional needs through our in-school snack program, helping kids stay focused and ready to learn. In the 2024–2025 school year alone, we supplied 31,500 snacks to schools where up to 70% of students face food insecurity.
- Our Grocery Home Delivery Program ensures no neighbor is left behind, delivering 45 food boxes each week—double what we served last year—to seniors and community members who face mobility or transportation barriers.
-In collaboration with the Golden Farmers' Market, BGOLDN's Fresh Food Access Program provides the opportunity to offer food insecure families the chance to shop for fresh and locally produced agriculture products at the weekly, seasonal market. On a monthly average during the 2025 season, a family of four purchased $300 worth of local agriculture products- contributing to their health and supporting local agriculture businesses.
To ensure Golden area students and families have access to sufficient, nutritious food through innovative programs and community engagement.
BGOLDN launched in March 2020 as an evolution of The Golden Backpack Program and a response to the rising food insecurity in Golden, Colorado, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Golden Backpack Program (GBP) was founded by local chef and active Rotarian Peggy Halderman in 2008. The goal of The Golden Backpack Program was to ensure school-aged children in Golden could access healthy food seven days a week.
In 2016, the GBP opened its Fresh Food Pantry to the community and expanded to serve a broader range of food insecure neighbors.
Today, BGOLDN provides over 600 households with a stable source of affordable, fresh food each month through our Fresh Food Pantry and grocery delivery service. We've increased our student programs, partnering with 8 Golden-area schools and distributing over 31,000 snacks during the 2024-2025 school year. Lastly, we execute partnership programs that help address unique issues such as accessibility barriers.
