Human Services

Poor/Economically Disadvantaged

Located in original Aurora near the Colfax corridor, AWTN vouchers provides shelter and comprehensive services for Aurora's homeless.

All services are provided free of charge to homeless clients including men, women, children, and families.

Clients may access a variety of services in our building Monday - Thursday 9:00am - noon, no appointment needed.

Shelter Cold weather emergency shelter is provided via motel vouchers when temperatures are 20 degrees or below. Vouchers are limited and are provided on a first come, first serve basis. Clients must have a photo ID to receive a voucher. In the winter of 2016, we provided over 4,000 bed nights of shelter. Vouchers provide safety, an opportunity for showers, and prevent frostbite, illness and potential death from winter elements. Donate a night of shelter: Make a secure tax deductible donation online

Evidence of Program's Success

Since its inception in 2006, the City of Aurora has seen a decline in the number of deaths of the homeless.

Provider feedback and provider impact statements have reported thorugh AWTN that they can seen a positive effect of shelter and services on their clients.

The nights their clients are housed they are fewer incidents of frostbite, illness, and a clearer mental capacity on the nights of shelter on the follow day for therapy and mental health sessions. Client survey data shows client satisfaction and similiar reporting to provider impact statements.

Former clients who are now housed return to AWTN as volunteers, support us in events, and advocate on our behalf.

Providing a safe warm room for my baby is a priority. Leaving an abusive relationship meant a new start without shelter or resources. A motel voucher means I can keep my baby and myself warm and safe." - AWTN Homeless Client

"Aurora Warms the Night is our survival kit. As a married couple, we share a blanket, but frostbite and illness are a reality in the winter. It is difficult to sleep in the snow. After losing my job, the economy made it difficult to find steady work. A motel voucher is our extreme weather haven. We couldn't survive without it." - AWTN Homeless Client.
