Mission Statement

Assisted Cycling Tours' mission is to UNLOCK the potential of people with disabilities and their families and to SHATTER the perception of their abilities through TRANSFORMATIVE bicycle programs and job skill development. Our goal is to promote family, independence and physical well being for all who participate.

Organization History

Assisted Cycling Tours was started in 2007 in order to give families with a disabled member an opportunity to do something together as a family that all can participate in doing. The ability to do something together as a family, when you have a family member with a disability, is difficult to find. Our goal is to give the individuals with disabilities the freedom that comes with riding a bike as well as give the family an opportunity to be together doing something fun.

We have a strong desire to collaborate with other non-profits and have we partnered with organizations including Autism Society of Boulder County, Easter Seals of Colorado, Boulder Expand Program, Safe Routes to School, The Joshua School and Jefferson County Public Schools to take kids with disabilities on bike trips. We served over 1000 people with disabilities (and 125 families) at schools, picnics and clinics.

In 2017, We opened A New Spin Bike ReCyclery. A New Spin is a bike shop that takes donated bikes, refurbishes and resells them. It's mission is to develop job skills for at-risk youth and kids/adults with disabilities. We also seek to create a community place of true inclusion with people of all abilities, incomes and nationalities through bikes.
