Mission Statement

Aspen Film seeks to enlighten, enrich, educate, and entertain through film.

Organization History

Established in 1979, Aspen Film is one of Colorado's most active film arts organizations, presenting dynamic programs and featured guest artists throughout the year. Internationally recognized, Aspen Film organizes a major film event in every season, along with an extensive education program: Aspen Filmfest, Academy Screenings, Aspen Shortsfest and Film Educates. With a mission to enlighten, enrich, educate and entertain through film, Aspen Film stimulates thought, encourages dialogue and broadens understanding of our world and selves through the diverse spectrum of ideas presented by filmmakers worldwide.

"Thanks to Aspen Film for providing hundreds of students with the opportunity to celebrate the world of film, filmmakers and stories never imagined. Shortsfest has allowed us to spend a week journeying around the world without leaving the Wheeler Opera House." - Chris Wheatley, Teacher, Aspen High School

"Aspen Film is a rare community treasure. It's hard to imagine our Aspen World without the one-of-a-kind experiences with quality original films to which we have all become accustomed." - Samantha Johnson, Publisher, The Aspen Times

"Aspen Film showcases Colorado at its best. The exceptional and dedicated staff program unique films and contemporary workshops to provide the best possible experience for the audience and filmmakers." -
Courtney Potts, Program Manager, Colorado Office of Film, Television & Media
