Arts Longmont presents the community with a wide variety of visual and performing arts programs that serve over 17,000 people from Boulder County each year. We serve K-12 students, seniors, adults, and families.
Our artist in residency program continues to serve students and teachers in Longmont. After one StEAM based residency, the art teacher noted that both he and the students had learned so much about digital technology and that students were pursuing digital design technology at home and in other classes.
Arts Longmont provides leadership and advocacy to support, inspire, and enhance the arts community to elevate the quality of life in the greater St. Vrain Valley region.
The Longmont Council for the Arts (LCA-now Arts Longmont) was formed in 1985 by local artists, donors, and community leaders to promote the cultural arts in Longmont. The Council was formed to bring more attention to the arts as well as arts programming. Later that same year, LCA was named Longmont's official arts organization by a passed measure of the Longmont City Council. Within the organization's first two years, the LCA established two major programs: the Artist in Residence program and Art in Public Places. In 1989, LCA received its 501(c)3 status. Art in Public Places is now managed by the City of Longmont. Unlike other organizations, Arts Lognmont fosters both the visual and performing arts. Arts Longmont is directed by an Executive Director, Program Coordinator and Administrative Assistant. The part-time paid staff allows Arts Longmont to manage its 5 programs in an efficient and effective manner. In 2018 Arts Longmont celebrates 33 years of promoting the arts in St. Vrain Valley with an eye towards growth as we work through a strategic planning process. We continue to be the leader in our arts community in order to move the arts forward as the lead partner in the implementation of Longmont's Creative District. Arts Longmont understands collaboration is the key to success and a successful Creative District will benefit the entire community.
