Mission Statement

Alpenglow Chamber Music Festivals, Inc. is an active 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization that is dedicated to improving the quality of life and enhancing the cultural life for residents and guests of Summit County and Colorado by providing quality performance of chamber music performed by nationally and internationally acclaimed musical artists and promoting appreciation of chamber music through education, outreach and audience development. We offer access for concerts with affordable prices, develop the artistic and technical proficiency of our students, and encourage local music students with scholarship awards.

Organization History

Alpenglow Chamber Music Festivals began in 1998 and is now in its 24th annual season! Founded by two distinguished former musicians from the Colorado Symphony, concertmaster Steven Copes and clarinetist Bill Jackson, the Festival has had a very exciting musical journey. The current Artistic Directors, Rieko Aizawa and Jesse Mills, believe in the importance of bringing the highest quality to Alpenglow, sharing the joy of music, and reaching out to the younger generation. They perform and teach as a duo in Summit County and they also select and bring between 4 and 6 other musicians to each Festival soiree and concert, providing depth and authenticity to the chamber music experience.

In 2017 Alpenglow is celebrating twenty years of exquisite chamber music performances in the glorious mountains of Summit County,Colorado. Rieko Aizawa and Jesse Mills, Artistic Directors, have created a series of programs to delight and surprise. They have included beloved selections by Gershwin, Shostakovick, Mozart and Mendelssohn, as well as other great composers.
We are also celebrating twenty years of promoting music appreciation, education and performance for students of all ages. Our affiliation with the Summit High School Instrumental Music Department has strenghtened our communication with students. Music students have the opportunity to interact with our professional musicians during their annual appearance at Summit High School, and all students are invited to attend our public performances free of charge. Annual scholarships for college music programs, scholarships for Summit Youth Orchestra participation, and instrument loan programs have been developed in recent years and operate successfully.
