Testimonials

Project HOPE:

"Before I joined Project HOPE, I was having a rough time managing financially and all. So just imagine how thrilled I was eleven years ago to get this great little apartment with rent help. And then as my health got worse, you kept coming up with great ideas and help to keep me going right here where I want to stay as long as possible. Every day I think of how lucky I am to have joined Project HOPE all those years ago. Where would I be without Project HOPE? Stuck in some nursing home!"

LGBT Program:

"When you reach 85 years old and haven't been 'out and proud' for most of your life, experiences like the Lavender Gala and other LBGT opportunities are a lifeline of social contact where you can 'be yourself' without fear of reprisal. Nothing can beat being able to share a conversation with someone from my own generation who knows what it's like to have led a closeted life. I only hope that a way can be found to attract and connect more elderly gay men in the area for socializing and friendship-it would be a ray of sunshine in an otherwise overcast life."

Short-Term Assistance:

"Thank you so much for helping my husband get the electric lift for our car to get his wheelchair in and out easily for us. It has been wonderful for him as he can now go into places instead of just having to wait in the car for me to return. We would never have been able to manage the expense of the lift without your help."

Allenspark Lunch Program:

"What a wonderful service this is! Our weekly lunch gets all of us mountain folk together to chat and get some great food."

Mission

The mission of the Aging Services Foundation of Boulder County is to financially support, and advocate for programs and services that encourage equity, well-being, independence, and dignity for Boulder County's older adults and family caregivers.

Background Statement

Aging Services Foundation of Boulder County was started by Boulder County Area Agency on Aging (BCAAA) in 1999 to provide a non-profit mechanism for securing resources to continue and expand programs that provide services to older adults because traditional federal and state sources of funding were insufficient and not keeping up with the rapid population growth among people 60 and older. ASF was recognized as a tax-exempt organization by the IRS on February 23, 2000.

ASF's goals are to provide funding for services that enhance the quality of life of older adults and their families; to support partnerships that enhance the image and involvement of older people; and to foster understanding about aging issues through a variety of media.
