Description

Junior High at The Academy is a time when we focus on continuing the solid education provided by our elementary while simultaneously preparing our students for High School. The Junior High is our student's first exposure to our pathways to success. Our counselors meet individually with each student and their family to develop an individualized program of study tailored to each student's individual interests. We focus on college prep through aggressive course selection but support the student with a strong tutor center and a number of other support pieces designed to foster student success.

For students to be successful in High School, they need a strong foundation in a number of core values beyond just academics. We focus our program on shaping the whole student. We work to instill the love of learning as well as the work ethic and moral compass needed for success later in life. We do this by establishing a number of climate goals in addition to those placed on academics.

Since the 2013-2014 school year, The Academy has placed extra emphasis on supporting our students to be set up for success after they graduate. We believe the above table shows that we have set a solid foundation to reach that goal. Our challenge now is to duplicate the 100% acceptance rate for our graduates year after year.

Our improvement here stems from an entire Kindergarten through High School focus on preparing our students for post-secondary success - both mentally and academically.

Post-Secondary Scholarship Awards
Our 2017 graduates earned over $5.8 million in scholarships
At The Academy, it is not enough for us to push all of our graduates to be accepted to post-secondary school we also want to guide them towards finding ways to defray the costs of higher education.

Looking Forward
We are very pleased with our results during the 16-17 school year and are also extremely proud of the students and staff for their dedication and focus towards continual improvement. As we look to the 17-18 school year we are expecting to pick up right where we left off and exceed our great marks from the previous year. There has been much work and planning done over the summer to ensure that we will properly support and guide our students towards even more success. Our focus on supporting and improving individual student achievement can be seen day in and day out in our classrooms, The Summit, and in everything that we do. It is also seen in the dedication and drive that is exhibited in each and every one of our high school staff members. These individuals consistently show that they will go the extra mile to meet the needs of all students and do what it takes to help our students succeed in high school and beyond.

We are so very thankful that our families have entrusted us with the education of their child. Here's to another successful year at The Academy.

Description

"Where Education And Fun Are One!"

Our After School Care program is currently under the guidance of Pat Johnson who has been with The Academy for 12 years, and brings over 40 years' experience as a Director of Early Childhood and School Age Care. The After Care program cares deeply about the welfare of our children, and continues to explore the countless ways in which we can guide them to becoming upstanding citizens in the community.

Our philosophy of care is based on quality rather than quantity. We provide low staff to child ratios which then allows for a more one on one environment. This style of program supports the children in building their social and emotional skills, communication skills and confidence to achieve anything they desire.

Our After Care Program also offers a Summer Camp, were all elementary grade levels join together and meet in our Main campus cafeteria. We offer a well balanced camp experience full of fun and educational field trips, coupled with playful down days to just play games and hang out with friends. We believe in low staff to child ratio's which allows for a more one on on environment. Our camp becomes like a family, experiencing adventures and learning together. Our Program and Camp require early enrollment as they fill up quickly due to the success of the programs. Currently both programs are full.

Description

The Elementary program at The Academy is an exacting agenda consisting of phonics, reading, spelling, writing, math, social studies, and science. Our curriculum is highly academic including Wonders Balanced Literacy and enVision Math. We also offer at the elementary level: additional Science time, music, art, PE, technology, and band/orchestra (4th, 5th & 6th). To further enhance the learning experience, our students take several field trips throughout the year.

Our learning environment connects technology to learners to open up a whole new world of instruction. In each classroom we have a Promethean Interactive Whiteboard, Learner Responder System, and document cameras to create an ActivClassroom.
The ActivClassroom is proven to increase instructional results. Engaged, excited classrooms are successful classrooms. A study performed by author and education research specialist Robert Marzano compared The ActivClassroom with more typical methods of instruction and found that usage of The ActiveClassroom lead to immediate, sustainable improvement in student achievement. Students taught with The ActiveClassroom achieved 17 percentile points higher on average than students taught with traditional methods. That's a real, tangible change in learning that means a real, tangibly different educational environment for both teachers and students.
