$5,000 Goal

A donation made to AISES is to become a part of a remarkable family.

When you support AISES, not only are you exciting young children about the power of science and technology, but you’re also bringing forward scientists and engineers who hold Indigenous knowledge passed down by our elders to help alleviate climate change and push forward with advancing science and technology.

AISES is committed to supporting students, teachers, and mentors as they push the boundaries of what is possible, combining Indigenous practices of how to care for our planet with STEM knowledge.

“What will my gift do, exactly?” you may be asking.

Well, my compassionate and big-hearted friend, you’ll provide robots to elementary schools. You’ll provide travel funds so students can go to competitions. Children will become passionate about learning more about science and technology!

You’ll help teenagers get excited about competition and science through science fairs. You’ll support AISES National Conference and Leadership Summit, introducing teenagers and college students to the power of networking, providing travel grants to those who need the assistance. And most importantly, they’ll have direct access to our elders!

You’ll provide scholarships to Indigenous college students. Because of you, these students will have support and camaraderie on campus. They’ll have internship opportunities at top STEM agencies and corporations. And once they graduate, they’ll have opportunities to connect with mentors in their field of expertise.

Thousands of children, college students, and professionals are already being supported because of generous donors like you. But we have to do more!

Will you help us grow? Will you help us do more? Your gift today will push forward this important STEM work, bringing together Indigenous knowledge and science.

Vision Statement

The vision of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) is for the next seven generations of Indigenous people to be successful, respected, influential, and contributing members of our vast and ever-changing global community.

Testimonials

In the early 1990s, I became involved with AISES as a volunteer at their national science fairs. Some years later I became a lifetime member through their Sequoyah Fellows program. I have grown with AISES for 28 years. Time does fly! I have made many friends at AISES and I wholeheartedly support their mission to increase the representation of Indigenous North Americans and Pacific Island students and career professionals in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) studies and careers. AISES supports students to dream big, follow their hearts, and believe that they can be scientists. They provide positive role models who encourage students to not be intimidated by STEM. Chemistry, physics, engineering, math - they can do it! AISES helps to start the conversation and breaks stereotypical images of what a scientist looks like. AISES supports individuals to learn for themselves what they are made of so that they can experience life fully. AISES opens students' minds to see the opportunities that exist by pushing boundaries, working hard, and moving past obstacles. As a donor, I am grateful for AISES and the opportunities it creates for others through its wide range of programs and services. With the help of loyal supporters and the broader community, AISES is accomplishing more by making the impossible possible. Keep up the great work AISES!

Mission

The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) is a national nonprofit organization focused on substantially increasing the representation of Indigenous peoples of North America and the Pacific Islands in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) studies and careers.

Background Statement

The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) was founded in 1977 by American Indian scientists, engineers, and educators. In view of the high dropout rates and low college enrollment and graduation rates of American Indians compared with all other ethnic groups in the United States, and the severe underrepresentation of American Indians in the science and engineering fields, Native professionals resolved to create an organization that would identify and remove the barriers to academic success for Native students. AISES is a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status and is primarily funded by government and private contracts, as well as other donations, contributions, and revenue from individuals and membership dues. Through a variety of educational programs, AISES offers financial, academic, and cultural support to Indigenous peoples of North America and the Pacific Islands from middle school through graduate school. AISES builds partnerships with tribes, schools, other nonprofit organizations, corporations, foundations, and government agencies to realize its goals. AISES especially helps Indigenous North Americans and Pacific Islander students prepare for careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
