Mission Statement

To support and promote education and outreach in the field of engineering within Colorado by raising awareness of consulting engineering as a career of choice. The foundation also pledges to utilize the combined resources of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Colorado members and industry partners to become more impactful in fundraising and sustaining foundation assets.

Organization History

Established in 2018, ACEC Colorado Foundation serves as a philanthropic, related organization of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Colorado. The Foundation helps further ACEC Colorado's mission to support the engineering industry in Colorado, with the added goal of providing financial assistance to college and high-school students, engagement and outreach to secondary school students, and career-path support to young professional in consulting engineering. To date, it has disbursed $102,000 in scholarship funds to 36 students pursuing careers in engineering.

The Foundation also plays a key role during Colorado Engineering Week. In 2021, the foundation presented an online traffic simulation for 8th to 10th graders and co-sponsored the Colorado High School Bridge Building Contest. The Region 2 winner was presented with a check from the foundation with an opportunity to receive an additional award upon enrollment in college.

In 2022, the Foundation will ramp up its educational outreach efforts to include collaborations with middle and high schools throughout Colorado. The ACEC Foundation's members will visit schools in urban, suburban and rural areas to create awareness about consulting engineering and the ancillary careers that support the industry. Through this initiative, the Foundation strives to reach youth of every economic, racial and gender category to demystify the field of engineering and make it more accessible to them.

Testimonials

"The ACEC Colorado Scholarship Program had a tremendous impact on my academic life. Due to the unique nature of the scholarships, I was able to put the funds towards not only my tuition, but my housing, and textbooks. These funds lessened the stress financial burdens placed on me and allowed me to truly focus on my learning."
-Theresa O'Donnell, Kimley-Horn, CSU alumni

"I am very grateful to receive an ACEC scholarship. It has not only supported me financially but also academically. As costs go up for college, I am grateful for any assistance to help ease some of the financial stress. Receiving an ACEC scholarship also encourages me to continue to pursue my dreams, to focus on my studies, and gives me the energy and confidence to work hard. ACEC has been a huge supporter of my academic career, and I am proud to represent ACEC. ACEC's endorsement shows their belief in me as a consulting engineer, and this encourages me to believe in myself as I finish my studies."
- Celeste Carmignani, Graduate Student, Colorado School of Mines
