Testimonials

Jasmine is one of the extraordinary, inspiring leaders who helped 9to5 mobilize thousands of Colorado voters to win a higher minimum wage at the ballot box:

"Being a single parent, it's impossible to raise children making only $8.31 an hour - especially in Colorado where the cost of living is rising. You can barely make ends meet, which means more time away from your home and kids.

This is why I decided to join 9to5's campaign to increase the minimum wage to $12/hour. It's important to take your struggles and emotions and channel them into to something positive. After weeks of door-knocking and having conversations with community, I am so ecstatic that we won!

9to5 is an amazing organization. When I feel like the rest of the world doesn't understand my struggle, I come to 9to5 to find other women who have my back and lift me up."

Mission

The mission of 9to5 Colorado is to build a movement to achieve economic justice, by engaging directly affected women to improve working conditions.

Background Statement

9to5 Colorado is a statewide chapter of 9to5, a national grassroots organization of women and our allies, powering change.

Through leadership development, grassroots organizing, civic engagement and legislative advocacy, we are leading the way for fair, equitable and family-friendly workplaces. Our members are the people who are most affected by low wages, discrimination and inequality.

9to5 Colorado has led many grassroots organizing campaigns and won important policy victories since 1996, including winning Paid Family and Medical Leave via ballot initiative in 2020. Right now, we are leading the charge to implement paid leave and win quality & affordable childcare, pay equity, renters' rights, affordable housing. and climate justice.

Our work connects the issues women face in daily life with the decisions elected officials make, building people power by giving our members the tools and resources they need to organize for lasting change.
